Project Rwanda is a story about redemption, hope, and second chances. Tom Ritchey, renowned mountain bike industry pioneer, first visited Rwanda in 2005. Awed by the natural beauty of Rwanda, he was also deeply moved by the people and their stories of reconciliation and hope. Tom knew he could use his talent and resources to help make a difference. He founded Project Rwanda, a nonprofit that created and distributed cargo-bearing utility bikes to impoverished coffee growers.

PeopleForBikes is the movement to make riding better for everyone. By collaborating with millions of individual riders, businesses, community leaders, and elected officials, we’re uniting people to create a powerful, united voice for bicycling and its benefits.
Our goal is to make every bike ride better, whether that ride takes you on trails, down to the grocery store, or all the way across town. Why? Because when people ride bikes, great things happen for our bodies and our minds, and our local and global communities.
The 88bikes Foundation endows bicycles to girls throughout the world, especially the heroic survivors of human trafficking. The highlight of each endowment is the Moment of Happy, when every girl at the ashram or shelter receives her new bike. They partner with vetted, locally-run NGOs, purchase bicycles from local vendors, hire local labor and connect each survivor one-to-one with her donor.
